In a vibrant push for grassroots football development, Interior PS Raymond Omollo's Community Empowerment Initiative has brought a fresh breeze of hope across Nyanza, starting from the serene environs of Remba Island.
With a series of generous donations that include sports kits and essential equipment, Omollo's efforts are not just about nurturing future stars but also about fostering community ties and keeping the youth engaged in productive activities.
During a visit to Remba Island, the PS Omollo team supported local teams like Remba FC and Winam FC by providing full sports uniforms, captain armbands, and crucially, two footballs per team—a significant gift given that most teams previously lacked even basic equipment.
“The support we received from PS Omollo will go a long way to help and nurture talents in Remba,” noted Suleiman Onjiko, coach of Remba FC.
This initiative is part of a broader push across various parts of Nyanza, including Siaya, Bondo, Kabonyo Kanyagwal in Kano, and Nyatike, among others. Each region has seen similar uplifting efforts, where local teams have benefitted from the government's focus on sports as a pillar of youth development and community engagement.

"Football is more than just a game; it's a catalyst for unity and a platform for the youth to showcase their talents. Our goal is to see some of these players make it to major platforms like the AFCON 2027," explained Mike Odari, Sports Coordinator and a key figure in implementing these initiatives.
His vision is backed by a commitment to not just provide immediate assistance but to lay down a sustainable foundation for sports development.
In places like Ugenya Siaya, where Jera FC and Ralak FC have received similar support, the impact is evident as more youths engage in football, steering clear from idleness and societal vices.
This approach aligns with Omollo’s broader strategy to use sports as a tool for social and economic development.
Looking ahead, there’s a palpable sense of anticipation and hope. As the region prepares for potential representation in the upcoming AFCON 2027, the groundwork laid by these initiatives promises not only the possibility of sports excellence but also a stronger, more cohesive community fabric.
By investing in grassroots football, PS Omollo and his team are indeed scoring goals for community development and youth empowerment in Nyanza, setting an inspiring example for other regions across Kenya.
