The family of Panara Sagar has denied claims that he was killed over a piece of land in Narok County.
Sagar died in hospital after he was shot by two men on a motorcycle on September 24. He was cremated on Sunday at the Kariokor Crematorium.
The killers ambushed him as he waited for the gate to his Parklands home to be opened.
His killers then left leaflets reading: “Vacate Narok Land”, “One Panara Down”, “Narok Land belongs to us the Maasai”, and “Panaras we are coming for you Narok land belongs to us”.

A family friend confirmed to The Standard that the family owns land in Narok but it has never been disputed. The land was acquired by Sagar’s grandfather in 1958.
The friend further said that no one had ever claimed the land, and speculated that the leaflets may have been left to mislead the police.
On August 2, 2024, Ravi Jayminseh, Panara’s cousin, received a weird package at his place of work. The package, which was delivered by a motorcycle, had the head of a goat and the family claims the man who delivered it was captured on CCTV camera.
The cousin reported the matter at the Parklands Police Station.
Gigiri’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Robinson Cherenje said the police were pursuing all angles not just the alleged land dispute.
“We are progressing well with the investigations,” he said.
He said that the police have yet to arrest the man who delivered the package to Jayminesh.
