Interior Principal Secretary, Raymond Omollo, has voiced his optimism for the implementation of police reforms.
Speaking at a Nairobi hotel on Thursday, June 6, during the opening ceremony of a three-day workshop, Omollo said the government is fully committed to prioritising the recommendations in the report prepared by the David Maraga-led team.
The report, seen by The Standard, contains various recommendations on officers’ overall welfare, pay, allowances, and working conditions.
It includes 271 recommendations for the National Police Service, 210 for the National Youth Service, and 117 for the Kenya Prisons Service.

“Of the recommendations, 36 per cent could be implemented immediately through administrative actions. Another 29 per cent would require funds to be implemented without policy or legislative actions,” said Omollo.
The development of a Strategic Framework for the Implementation of Reforms began in February 2024.
The Technical Committee on Development of the Legal and Policy Framework for Correctional Services was gazetted on 7th May 2024.
President William Ruto directed the expeditious implementation of the report during its submission by the retired Chief Justice in November last year.
