Health stakeholders have challenged the national government to solve issues surrounding the transition to Social Health Authority (SHA) to prevent a looming rise in mortality rates.

This is happening as several patients complain about being unable to access treatment after most facilities rejected SHA.

Patients who were covered in the now-defunct National Hospital Insurance Fund, claim they are unable to access services under the new medical scheme.

The director of Beryl’s Medical Centre, Newton Ogada, challenged the State to resolve the glitches surrounding the SHA transition.

He expressed concerns that many Kenyans were ailing but could not get medical care due to lack of health insurance.
