SCHOOLS: Kisumu Day thrash Kisumu Boys 4-0 to qualify for Kisumu County finals

Kisumu Day High School thumped archrivals Kisumu Boys High School 4-0 to retain the Kisumu Central Sub County football boys title in the finals played in a fully packed Kisumu Boys grounds on Sunday afternoon.

The win saw day continue with their impressive goal scoring form after having knocked out Kudho Mixed Secondary School 8-1 in the semifinals played on Saturday.

Kisumu Day thus qualified for the 2024 Kisumu County Secondary School Term Two finals set to be held at Maseno School on from June 12.

Both teams will however be at Maseno School courtesy of Kisumu Day being the defending county champions and thus Kisumu Central Sub County sending two teams.

In the match, Kisumu Day took the lead inside the opening 10 seconds when captain Elisha Otieno sent a long looping ball into the Kisumu Boy’s penalty box straight from kick off, a delivery that was met by Kennedy Ochieng who scored for an early 1-0 lead.

Seven minutes later, Brian Odiwuor sent the thousands of fans at Kisumu Boys grounds into a frenzy after volleying home a thunderbolt shot that gave Kisumu Day a very comfortable 2-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes.

A series of shot on target attempts followed as Kisumu Day dominated majority of the opening half before the teams went to half time with Day leading 2-0.

In the final half, Neville Simiyu made it 3-0 before Benson ‘Maasai’ Lomuria put the icing on the cake with a beautiful dink over the helpless Kisumu Boys goalkeeper for a 4-0 win.
