Five new M-pox cases confirmed, including two children

Kenya’s Ministry of Health has confirmed five new cases of Mpox, bringing the total to 23 cases in the past week.

Of the five new cases, Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni noted on Saturday that two are children under the age of five.

The cases were reported in Nakuru and Mombasa, with two cases in each county, and one case in Kisumu County.

To date, 156 contacts have been identified, with 117 completing the required 21-day follow-up and 34 remaining under active follow-up.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 15,257 travelers have been screened at major entry points in the past 24 hours.

So far, over two million travelers have been screened since the country confirmed its first case.
