The British colonial government in the pre-independence Kenya underrated and despised the Mau Mau movement, a grouping that was fast spreading its power, authority and influence ion Central Kenya and beyond. Before the whites knew it, the movement was waging war against the colonial masters and they sympathisers. To save face, the British government commissioned an inquiry to establish the growth and modus operandi of Mau Mau, an inquiry whose report was haphazardly carried out and written to paint the movement as a witchcraft savage grouping.
