Kenyans should brace for expensive Ugali if members of parliament pass the 2022 Finance Bill that proposes a 16% value added tax on maize flour. Households are already reeling from high commodity prices such as milk, cooking oil and fuel. Adding maize flour to the equation will hit them hard since ugali is the country’s staple food.
