Colonial governor who couldn’t stand Jomo’s handshake

There was a time when the term handshake was as controversial as it is today although it had not been given the same term back in the 1960s. In 1961 Former President Jomo Kenyatta was held as a prisoner in Maralal and leaders in Nairobi and London had been pressuring Governor Patrick Renison to release him. To their dismay, Governor Renison was unwilling to even meet the former president. This is the story of one of Kenya’s most memorable stalemates.
