Over the years the mismanagement of Kenya's coffee sector saw a number of farmers abandon the crop, a move that saw Kenya's coffee production dropping from 130,000 metric tons to the current 40,000 metric tons. But now a new generation of young players in the sector are trying to improve the fortunes of small scale farmers, by introducing them to contract farming and specialty markets.
