On Diaspora This Week, we speak Kenyan rugby. Kenyan rugby has a massive following on the international stage among its diasporas. With the men’s 7s rugby team (Shujaa 7s) having recently clinched an Olympic ticket to Paris, Kenyans wait in anticipation for the performance of the women’s team (Lionesses) looking to also book an Olympic ticket at the qualifiers in Tunisia from October 14-15 and the 15s team in Dubai for the World Rugby WXV3 October 12-28th. Our guest today knows the ins and outs of Kenyan rugby having played the game at all levels and is now in coaching. This is Mr. Brian Nyikuli. Brian began his rugby career with Impala Club before moving to Strathmore Rugby Club. He has also played for Kenya Harlequins and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB). He has the distinction of being the only Kenyan player to win the Kenya Cup four times in a row. Brian guides us through the state of rugby in Kenya in both the 15s and 7s as well as the gender and age categories. Welcome!
