SCHOOLS: Champs Dr Aggrey remain stoic in Taita Taveta county games

Former national secondary schools boys basketball champions Dr. Aggrey High School retained the Taita Taveta County basketball title as new champions emerged during the Term One games over the weekend.

The games held at Mwangea School, saw Dr. Aggrey triumph over their rivals Timbila in the final for the second consecutive year.

The champions defeated their opponents 53-29 to retain the title and book a ticket to the regional games in Malindi.

In boys' handball, Mwangea were crowned new champions after fighting to a 29-9 win over Dr. Aggrey.

The winners had taken a comfortable 12-4 at the breather and did not look back until the final whistle.

Mwatate Day carried the girls' handball crown after seeing off Njoro Girls from Taveta 27-9 in the final.

Mwasere Girls reclaimed the girls' basketball title. In Rugby, new champions were born after Timbila saw off Dr. Aggrey in the hotly contested final at Mwambiti grounds.

Former champions St Mary's Lushangonyi lost to Timbila in the semi finals. The boys' hockey trophy went to Kenyatta Mwatate.

In Kwale County games at Shimba Hills Secondary School, former national girls basketball champions Kaya Tiwi did not disappoint after they thrashed their opponents in all their matches to retain the title with an unbeaten record.

All winners in the six counties that form Coast region will converge at Malindi High School from March 20-23 for the regional finals.
