Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of being the mastermind of the famous 'Ruto Must Go` slogan chants.
After his impeachment, the CS claimed that Gachagua began inciting the youths against Ruto.

Gachagua was given the opportunity to be DP, but he began frustrating the government, and now he is telling youths to say Ruto must go,” said Mvurya. Mvurya, an ally of Ruto, said that the President is there to stay and there is nothing Kenyans will do about it until 2027. He said the constitution insulates Ruto, and only the ballot will determine if he will be out.
“The constitution does not provide for Ruto must go. The president is there until 2027, and there is nothing you can do in the middle but only through the ballot,” said Mvurya.

The CS said the government, with other partners, have invested Sh20 billion under the Wosa project that targets youths who have finished form four.
“Youths don't be used to cause mayhem. The unemployment problems you facing are nothing new; we also underwent the same in 1992, so do not be used because, after all is said and done, it will not put food on the table,” said Mvurya.
The CS confirmed that the plans for elections for National Youth Council (NYC) leaders are underway.

The CS also launched a Sports Academy at Matuga for Sh110 million and said they will be doing 37 more academies in the entire country for Sh1.7 billion.
The CS said that the ministry is engaging in talks to ensure that seamless elections are conducted soon.
“I want to confirm that NYC elections will be conducted soon after we finish engaging with the cabinet, and I assure youths they will elect a leader to represent them at the wards, county and national levels,” said Mvurya.
He said that through Woza, they will organise and connect 180,000 youths with different opportunities.
Mvurya said there has been a gap in the country where youths have not been linked to opportunities.
“As youths, we are linking you to opportunities. Now, take the initiative and pursue them. Do not oppose everything while you are left behind,” said Mvurya.
NYC Chief Executive Officer Gloria Wawira said the Woza forum has created awareness of various government opportunities and programs aimed at youths’ socio-economic advancement.
Wawira said the forums that were successfully implemented in Bungoma and Makueni counties seek to engage over 5000 youths across different counties.
“The Waza Regional Youth Forums will provide young people with critical information, resources, and networks to thrive in the evolving economic landscape,” said Wawira.
