A 35-year–old man went berserk and ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001474698/man-and-his-two-children-killed-in-rongai">killed his two children< aged two and seven.

The suspect was later arrested armed with a kitchen knife after the shocking incident in Bosto village in Konoin, Bomet.

Area police commandant Edward Imbwaga said the suspect was apprehended by members of the public as he attempted to flee the scene.

The="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/rift-valley/article/2001512056/man-jailed-150-years-for-killing-his-three-children"> reason behind the gruesome act < remains unclear, but authorities suspect it may be related to family disputes. The man’s wife was away during the incident.

“We cannot determine why he decided to kill the two children, but we believe it may be linked to issues with his wife,” said Imbwaga, adding the suspect may appear in court tomorrow.

Police expressed concern over rising number of similar cases in the county. “Recently, we have encountered many homicide cases related to deteriorating relationships. We urge relevant organisations to step in and help curb these incidents,” said Imbwaga.

He said they were investigating three similar incidents, including a recent one where a woman was fatally attacked by her boyfriend in Bomet town.

Elsewhere in Rongo Sub-County, Migori, boda boda riders at Kanga yesterday evening blocked the Rongo-Migori Highway as they protested the death of their colleague who was allegedly hit by a speeding police vehicle.

The Land Cruiser was heading to Rongo from Ranen in Awendo when it hit the rider, who had just come from a nearby fuel station. He died on the spot while the passenger was rushed to the Rongo Sub-County Hospital.

“There should not be favouritism in terms of the application of the law. He (the driver) should be treated just like any other Kenyan and be held accountable,” said Bernard Adek.

The riders threatened to storm a police station if action is not taken in a week.

Rongo Sub-County Police Commander Salim Fundi said they have launched investigations into the matter.

“The vehicle did not stop after causing the accident. Eyewitnesses are saying that it is a police vehicle. They have given us the vehicle’s number plate and we have started searching to establish which office or police station it belongs to,” he said.
