Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) CEO David Njengere has cautioned KCSE candidates against being duped into buying fake examination papers circulating on social media.

Speaking in Muranga county where he supervised the opening of examination containers in the Deputy County Commissioner's office, Dr Njengere said the examination papers circulating on social media platforms are meant to confuse candidates.

"We have confirmed that the examination papers being circulated on social media platforms are not genuine and only meant to deceive those sitting for KCSE," he said.

"Students have studied for the last four years, so I urge them to ignore those papers being circulated on various social media channels," he added.

The Knec boss assured that new guidelines have helped in the administration of the national examinations to enable the candidates to attain credible results.

He said the new directive to centre managers to pick exam papers from Knec containers twice a day is working smoothly to secure the process.

"This concept has helped in the prevention of the early exposure of examination papers. Those monitoring the exams are also doing a credible job," Njengere said.

He said in northern Kenya and Kitui, the council has dispatched helicopters to transport the examination papers owing to heavy rains and floods.

"Several measures have been taken to ensure schools in areas affected by ongoing heavy rains and other eventualities get their examination papers on time," he said.
