The Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) has assured parents that students will be protected in schools during the upcoming teachers' strike.

The Association's chairman, Willy Kuria, encouraged parents to prepare their children for the reopening of schools, which is set to begin tomorrow (Monday).

Kuria, who is also the principal of Murang'a High School, emphasized that despite the looming teachers' strike, which has been triggered by a labor dispute between teachers' unions, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), and KESSHA, the welfare and well-being of students will be safeguarded.

"Parents are advised to prepare students for the third term school reopening starting on 26th August 2024," said Kuria in a press statement.

He further stressed the importance of students resuming school early to continue their studies, particularly for KCSE candidates who need to be in school to prepare for the national examinations.

Meanwhile, Murang'a KUPPET Executive Secretary Mburu Mwangi confirmed that the teachers' strike will proceed as planned, following instructions from the national office.

"Starting tomorrow, our members are advised to stay away from schools," Mburu told The Standard.
