Gor Mahia hit with more sanctions after Kasarani Stadium crowd trouble

FKF Premier League defending champions Gor Mahia on Friday were dealt another blow after being handed more sanctions for their crowd trouble witnessed during their game against Murang’a Seal last weekend at Kasarani Stadium.

The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee ruled that the result of the match which ended in 0-0 draw will stand but ordered Gor Mahia to pay Sh500,000.

Additionally, the committee ruled that Gor Mahia shall play their next five (5) home FKF Premier League matches in an empty stadium.

“Gor Mahia shall bear the costs of all the damages incurred by the stadium as shall be determined by Sports Kenya. Gor Mahia shall cater or refund for incurred medical costs by match officials,” read part of the ruling.

Gor Mahia players namely Ouma Rodgers, Onyango Rooney, Onyango Joshua, and Ochieng Benson will be referred to the FKF Disciplinary Committee for their role in the skirmishes.

Earlier on, Gor Mahia were fined Sh1,995,000 by Sports Kenya.

According to a letter seen by the Standard and signed by Sports Kenya Director General Pius Metto, Gor fans are accused of destroying 295 seats, 12 PWD wooden panels and four electrical panes.

“During the match between Gor Mahia and Murang’a SEAL played on November 11 at Moi Sports Center Kasarani, violence erupted the match where Gor fans caused mayhem and damaged 295 seats, 12 PWD wooden panels and four electrical panes all work at Sh1,995,000,” said Metto in the letter.
