After a spirited fight for the allocation of more slots at the upcoming ="https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/entertainment/golf/article/2001511674/magical-kenya-open-this-is-what-fans-should-expect-at-muthaiga">Magical Kenya Open<, the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) secured five more slots in do-or-die qualifiers staged at Windsor Golf and Country Resort on Monday.

Alfred Nandwa of Royal Nairobi Golf Club, Mutahi Kubugu of Muthaiga Golf Club, Erick Ooko of Golf Park Golf Club, Daniel Nduva of Nyali Golf and Country Club and Simon Njogu of the Great Rift Valley Golf Resort made the list.

The quartet joined an earlier list comprised of the new kid on the block, Njoroge Kibugu of Windsor Golf and Country Club who cut in 2023, Greg Snow of Muthaiga Golf Club, David Wakhu of Golf Park Golf Club and Kenya Railway Golf Club’s Samwel Njoroge.

Making it to the list for the 28th year running is veteran professional Dismas Indiza of Kakamega Sports Club, who missed out in 2011 after being involved in an accident while playing at the Sunshine Tour in South Africa.

Others on the A-list include Mohit Mediratta from Sigona Golf Club, Riz Charania of GoGolf Academy and Edwin Mudanyi of Karen Golf and Country Club. With this selection, the murmurs and threats by PGK have borne fruit with the extra slots out of the national team that flies the Kenyan flag at the competition, which is part of the DP World Tour. The event tees up at the Muthaiga Golf Club on Thursday.

PGK vice chairman Alfred Nandwa expressed his gratitude, stating, “I feel honored to be part of the team after four years away from golf. We are not fighting anyone by asking for what is rightfully ours.”
