Veteran golfer Mukuria Ragui and guest player Elias Kariuki were the stars of the show during the Club Night golf tournament held on Thursday at Karen Country Club.

The event, which attracted over 240 players, was part of the buildup to the highly anticipated Karen Golf Mug scheduled for Saturday.

Sponsored by First Assurance and Absa Life, the competition brought together golfers from different age categories and divisions, with winners earning bragging rights ahead of the weekend’s main event.

Ragui, competing in the senior category (70+), showed his class by returning a solid score of 39 points to win the seniors' title. His steady play over both nines impressed fans and fellow golfers alike.

In the guest category, Elias Kariuki outshone the field by carding 43 points, earning him the top guest prize and setting a strong tone for visiting players.

The junior title went to promising young golfer Tyler Belyon, who matched Ragui’s score of 39 points in a confident performance.

In Division B, Davies Maina posted the day’s highest score with 46 points to win the category, while Paul Wangaruro came second with 40 points. Joseph Wamugi and Stephen Kigera took home the best second-nine and first-nine prizes, respectively, with 23 points each.

Division A saw another top performance as DG Muriithi returned an impressive 47 points to claim victory. Mwangi Muthee followed closely with 43 points but lost on countback. George Nyakundi and Elijah Adul also posted 22 points each to win the best first nine and best second nine prizes, respectively, in Division A.

Speaking after the event, tournament officials said the Club Night was a great way to prepare for the Karen Golf Mug and praised First Assurance for supporting the event.
