Gitari outshines 280 golfers to win title at Muthaiga

Homegirl Sharon Gitari maintained a spectacular display of composure to be declared the ultimate victor of the Brush and Beyond golf tournament,  staged at the Muthaiga Golf Club over the weekend.

Gitari, playing off a handicap of 19, carded an impressive 42 stableford points to secure the overall winner's title, leading a massive field of 280 golfers who graced the greens for the high-stakes corporate showdown.

"Victory is sweet, but it’s the brilliance of the partnership and the vibrant support from the sponsor that truly colored my success today. A massive thank you to the leadership for a world-class event—your quality is unmatched, both on the shelves and on the green," Gitari said on her win.

Evans Kidero, playing off a handicap of 16, fired a round total of 41 stableford points to claim the Men's winner title.

He was closely followed by Patrick Nduati, playing off a handicap of 11, who took second place with 40 stableford points. Edwin Njamura, playing off a handicap of 28, rounded up the podium in third place, also carding 40 stableford points but losing out on countback.

Starring in the ladies' section was Njoki Nderitu, who made the most of her handicap of 33, firing 39 stableford points to claim the top spot. Handicap 19, Natasha Karanja secured second place with a solid 38 stableford points.

Bhavnish Chandaria reminded the field of his elite ball-striking by claiming the Gross winner title with an exceptional round of 70.

In the Senior ranks, Kaburu Mwrichia, playing off a handicap of 24, shot 39 stableford points to win the Senior men's title. Rose Koome shone as the Senior Lady winner with a score of 36 stableford points.

Emmanuel Koech, playing off a handicap of 19, walked away with the Junior winner prize on a score of 36 stableford points.

The event's host and sponsor, Crown Paints Limited, was well represented on the leaderboard. Dr Rakesh Rao, the immediate former CEO, showed he still had the competitive edge by claiming the Sponsor winner title with 39 stableford points.

The visitor's contingent was led by Machakos Golf Club's Nderitu Macharia, who carded 36 stableford points to lead the guest onslaught. He was followed by Alex Mutinda, who secured the Guest second spot with an identical score of 36 stableford points.

In the power contest, the longest drive saw Aman Mohindra and Yusra Butt take home the honours for the men and ladies, respectively.

On the tricky 13th hole, the Nearest to the Pin duel was won by Ashish Shah for the Men, and Sharon Gitari was back on the podium, adding to her overall victory as the Nearest to the Pin Lady winner.

While most celebrated their triumphs, Fuwad Abdallah was recognised for his persistence, taking home the Best Effort title.

At Nanyuki Sports Club, the 18th Liberty Heritage golf day saw former club Captain Mark Kirimi playing off a handicap of six, returning a score of 36 stableford points to claim the overall title. Evergreen, General Peter Waweru chalked 78 to bag the Gross title.

Duncan Kimuyu won the Men's winner prize on a score of 35 stableford points, followed by General Peter Waweru

The Heritage Staff prize was won by Nkoregamba Mwebesa, playing off a handicap of 12, with a score of  30 stableford points.

Diana Angaine won the Lady winner prize with a score of 32 stableford points.
