Police in combat gear surrounded businessman Jimi Wanjigi's residence on Thursday evening at 44 Muthaiga Road in Nairobi.
The motive for the operation remains unclear.
Jimi Wanjigi shared a video clip on his X account, showing three police vehicles and heavily armed police officers, with the caption, “The police have decided to raid my home.”
A separate video clip also showed police vehicles speeding up and parking outside Wanjigi’s gate, with the occupants disembarking and entering the compound.
The incident has raised questions, as it is not the first time the family has faced such raids.

Jimi Wanjigi’s son, Maina, said, “It’s not the first time we’ve been raided. It seems that whenever we threaten them, they decide to raid us. This is all in the spirit of political freedom. Why do you have to be victimised like this when you show an opinion against the government?”
A senior security officer at the scene requested time to complete investigations and promised a comprehensive report.
The family’s lawyer Naelso Osiemo said that a statement regarding the incident would be issued on Friday, August 9.
