Vehicle linked to abduction of blogger Sniper recovered in Meru

Homicide detectives on Friday, January 26 recovered a vehicle  believed to have been used in the abduction of Daniel Muthiani alias sniper.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday said that the vehicle, a silver Toyota Premio make, was recovered at a residential place in Kithoka, Meru County following a forensic analysis.

“The DCI Homicide detectives yesterday recovered the vehicle that was used to abduct the late Daniel Muthiani Benard alias Sniper and later dispose his body at Mutonga River in Chiakariga area, Tharaka Nithi on December 2, 2023,” DCI said on X. 

“The identification and subsequent recovery of the vehicle, a silver Toyota Premio registration number KCR 742N followed thorough forensic analysis of crucial leads, which pointed to a residential place at Canopy area of Kithoka, Meru.”

Detectives have so far identified a suspect, Vincent Mureithi Kirimi alias Supuu as the driver who hired the vehicle on the said day of abduction and murder of Sniper. 

It is said he ferried other three occupants including Brian Mwenda, Christus Manyara Kiambi and Boniface Kithinji Njihia alias DJ Kaboom.

Investigations into the murder of the Meru-based booger are underway. 

A fortnight ago, police revealed they are combing through the trio’s phones as they try to pin their participation and also record statements to determine whether to prefer charges or not.
