Media locked out of DIGs swearing in event at Supreme Court

The media was on Thursday evening denied entry to the Supreme Court premises to cover the swearing-in ceremony of Deputy Inspector Generals of Police. 

Calls and texts to their communication personnel went unanswered as journalists waited outside the main entrance. 

Chief Justice Martha Koome oversaw the swearing-in of Eliud Lagat as DIG, Kenya Police and Gilbert Masengeli as DIG, Administration Police in the Thursday evening event. 

Masengeli will now be the Acting Inspector General of Police following the nomination of Douglas Kanja as the new Inspector General of Police.

Kanja's official appointment awaits parliamentary approval.
