The United Green Movement (UGM) presidential hopeful, David Maraga, has warned Kenyans against electing President William Ruto because he will cause irreparable mess in the country if he is re-elected in 2027.

Maraga accused President Ruto of messing up key sectors which are crucial to the well-being of Kenyans.

Speaking when he officially opened the UGM office in Homa Bay Town, Maraga mentioned various sectors he claimed are on the verge of collapse, warning that their status spells doom for Kenyans.

Maraga, who was accompanied by UGM party leader Agustino Neto and National Organising Secretary Easter Ogweno, said President Ruto had formed a tendency to micromanage all sectors from the State House.

However, the objective of micromanagement is to perpetuate corruption by siphoning public funds.

“The current administration micromanages all sectors from the State House. The main purpose of the micromanagement is to create a room for stealing public funds,” Maraga said.

One of such sectors is education, which he said is currently facing a serious mess.

He accused President Ruto’s administration of messing up the Competency-Based Education (CBE).

He argued that the government introduced the CBE before training teachers, a situation which confused the education sector.

Maraga said the mess in Kenyan education will destroy the future of Kenyan children.

”If you want to mess up a country’s generation, destroy the education system. The government has caused a serious mess because teachers were not trained for CBE implementation and no proper prior arrangements were made,” Maraga said.

He also accused the government of jeopardising the health sector by introducing the Social Health Authority (SHA which denies Kenyans the opportunity to get medication.

“The SHA is a total mess because Kenyans cannot get medication the way they used to get it during NHIF. If NHIF had issues, those issues were supposed to be rectified without disbanding it,” Maraga said.

He also accused Ruto’s administration of introducing e- citizens with a plot to steal public funds.

The former Chief Justice accused the government of ulterior motives in outsourcing e-citizen, yet there were Kenyans employed as information and communication technology (ICT) experts.

“The government has people employed as ICT experts. Why did it outsource e-citizen, yet we had government employees who could develop it?” Maraga said.

Maraga argued that Kenya has a lot of money, but the money does not help citizens because of corruption in the government.

The former CJ promised to restore all the systems which have been destroyed by Ruto’s government if he is elected in 2027. One of them is to accord each sector its autonomy in management and ensure proper service delivery.

“I am going to rescue this country from the destruction caused by the current administration. I stop the micromanagement and demand results from each sector,” said Maraga.

He pledged to ensure proper compliance with the rule of law by abiding by the Constitution.

“Abiding by the constitution will help us seal the corruption loopholes which make Kenya lose a lot of money in the hands of individuals,” he added.

Neto told the youth to register as voters in large numbers.

“Let our young people register as voters and vote Maraga for presidency in 2027,” Neto said.

Ms Ogweno said scrapping SHA and other defective systems will transform the lives of Kenyans.

“Our main objective is to rescue Kenya by electing Maraga,” Ogweno said.
