Mwaura said President Ruto had directly spoken to several African leaders to marshal support for Odinga.
“President Ruto, with the support of the Mudavadi, is engaged in campaigns to ensure Odinga wins the seat,” Mwaura said.
“The oldest president in East Africa recently assured us of his support. East Africa is behind Odinga,” Mwaura said.
According to Mwaura, Odinga is a proven Pan-Africanist who has bravely fought for democratic ideals across the continent.
“The entire Kenya Kwanza government is behind Odinga due to significant leadership credentials he has demonstrated, both in Kenya and Africa,” Mwaura said.
He added that the government was committed to implementing development projects in Odinga's political tuff, Nyanza.
“Our objective as a government is to create opportunities for our young people to earn a living,” said Mwaura.
The projects include 110 affordable housing units and a modern market for fish traders in Homa Bay town.
The Homa Bay Pier is expected to enhance transport between Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay and Migori counties through Lake Victoria once complete.
The 74km Mbita-Magunga-Sori road which connects various towns along the shores of Lake Victoria in Homa Bay and Migori counties is also under construction.
Mwaura was flanked by Homa Bay County Commissioner Moses Lilan, Kenya Shipyard Limited Managing Director Maj Gen Paul Otieno and Tom Mboya University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Charles Ochola.
Lilan, on his part, said the government was battling illicit brews in the county to ensure youths in Homa Bay contribute significantly to the economy.
“The fight against illicit brews is our key priority. We want the youth to benefit from several development projects the government is implementing in Homa Bay,” said Lilan.
