Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is pushing for a thorough investigation into the helicopter crash that killed the former Emurua Dikirr MP, Johana Ng’eno, on February 28, 2026.
Speaking on Friday, August 21, 2026, when he paid tribute to the late Ng’eno at their home in Mogondo village, Trans Mara, Gachagua said Kenyans deserve to know the truth behind the incident that cut short the lives of six people.
"We will not rest until the cause of this tragedy is established. The family, the people of Emurua Dikirr, and the entire country need answers. I will personally ensure that independent and thorough investigations are conducted so that those responsible are held accountable," Gachagua said.
The impeached deputy president stated that the legislator's loss was a major blow not only to his constituents but also to the entire Rift Valley region.

He described the late Ngeno as a development-oriented leader who was passionate about the welfare of his people.
Gachagua alleged that the fuel used in the ill-fated helicopter was suspect, and questioned why Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang failed to take the flight after making a last decision.
The former DP further questioned why the Kenya Airport Authorities in Eldoret were allegedly transferred after the helicopter crash.
"We demand the release of CCTV clips at the airport where the helicopter fueled to establish the identity of people who fueled it." He claimed.
Gachagua further promised to invite foreign investigating agencies to probe Ng'eno's death as soon as he takes power in 2027.
He further claimed that President William Ruto had failed to fulfil certain promises that he made to Ng'eno's mother during his burial.
During the visit, Gachagua announced that he would lead efforts to construct a befitting grave site for the late MP to honour his legacy.
"He was a servant of the people. The least we can do is to give him a decent resting place that his family and the community can be proud of. We will mobilise resources and ensure the work begins immediately," he added.
The DCP leader further committed to taking full responsibility for the welfare of the late MP’s mother, Mary Temas.
He said he would cover her domestic expenses, including her driver's salary, electricity bills, and other household needs, until she is well settled.
"I have spoken with Mama Mary and assured her that she will not walk this journey alone. We will stand with her during this difficult time," Gachagua said.
As part of his visit, Gachagua presented various donations to the bereaved family. The items included a cow, several bags of rice, carrots, cabbages, potatoes, and other assorted foodstuffs to support the family during the mourning period.
Family members and residents who gathered at the home welcomed the donations and thanked the DCP leader for remembering them.
Turning to politics, Gachagua lamented that the Kipsigis community and other residents of Narok County have been left behind in terms of development. He accused the current government of neglecting key projects in the region.
"The people of Narok, and especially the Kipsigis community, have been sidelined for too long. Roads are in poor condition, schools lack resources, and our youth have no jobs. That is why we formed the DCP, to give every Kenyan a fair chance," he said.
He urged residents to rally behind the Democracy for Citizens Party and vote for its candidates in the 2027 general election, saying the party offers a new direction for the country.
"We are building a party that listens to the people. Come 2027, I ask the people of Narok to support DCP so that together we can bring real change and development to this region," Gachagua concluded.
The visit was attended by local leaders, family members, and hundreds of residents who turned up to receive the DCP leader.
