In a statement, Quins thanked Murunga for being instrumental in building a strong foundation, instilling a winning mindset, and nurturing homegrown talent.

Murunga was appointed the club’s coach in May 2022. During his tenure, he led Kenya Harlequin to impressive successes, including lifting the National 7s Circuit, Driftwood 7s, Ingo 7s, and the Mwamba Cup. He was awarded the Kenya Harlequin Spirit of Rugby Shield at the 2023 annual club dinner.

Murunga said he was grateful to serve one of the top rugby clubs in the country.

“It’s been a privilege to serve this great club. I am proud of what we have achieved,” the former Kenya Sevens coach said.

On his part, Quins chairman Victor Sudi said: “Paul brought deep knowledge and passion to his roles at Kenya Harlequin. We are grateful for his three years with Quins, and we wish him the very best in his coaching journey ahead. He will always be welcome as a friend at Kenya Harlequin.”

Director of Rugby Joel Nganga said, “Paul leaves ="https://www.google.com/url?client=internal-element-cse&cx=011965659370381653902:7awkdkhs2_y&q=https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/sports/rugby/article/2001510836/kenya-cup-omollo-stars-as-kcb-edge-quins-to-maintain-unbeaten-run&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwiQufD6rYSNAxWXcKQEHa55MJkQFnoECAoQAg&usg=AOvVaw3eHZc_3hOldWjemcJWovpF">Kenya Harlequin< as a winner. He revitalised the men’s squad and played a key role in the club’s return to women’s and age-grade rugby. He guided us to multiple trophies, and his place in Quins’ history is assured. Good luck in your future endeavours, Pau.”
