At last, Kenya Highland Seed won the Six-Goal-The Ndume Trophy after they overcame stubborn Mascor 5.5-3 at Manyatta Polo Club in Gilgil, on Monday.

They (Kenya Highland Seed) did so in style by winning all their matches in the four-team-three-matches round-robin series.

It was a three-day competition, a penultimate event in the polo series this season.

Kenya Highland Seed owe it to experienced forward Craig Millar, who scored most of their goals in the tournament to emerge the top scorer.

Craig said his efforts came through teamwork and particularly thanked the duo of Amani and Hiromi Nzomo, who made his work easier in front of the goal.

“The pair (Hiromi and Amani) are too good in their own style and had it not been their efforts, I’m sure we couldn’t have won the trophy. Thanks to the duo,” Millar told Standard Sports.

That victory came at a time the Nzomos have been in their best form since the season opener in May.

The victory comes ahead of the final championships at the same venue this weekend.

Manyatta Polo Club captain Geoff Morley is grateful to all players who took part in the event, saying it was a well contested competition.

“At the end of it, I hope all players and ponies are safe and healthy,” Morley said.

The Winebox team of Cheza Millar, Silke Hampson, Lemmy Sewe and Eva Kamau beat all odds to scoop the Intermediate Championship title after thumping Dudutech and Dayliff in the three-match round-robin series.

In the Two-Team-Belle Inn Cup, Tack Rack won with a goal's aggregate of 9.5-9 over Sanlam after a round-robin of three matches, thanks to the effort of experienced handicap 2.5 Henry Limb who depended on Millie Seagon, Natalie Yanda and Luniya Msuku on their way to win the title.
