Darts. Wangui lifts Chairman's Cup in Nakuru

It was a good day for experienced Millicent Wangui who won the ladies darts singles but later emerged runner-up in doubles as the curtains came down on the Chairman's Cup at Chambers Resort in Nakuru city on Sunday night.

Wangui defeated international Selina Sakawa 4-3 in the best-of-seven series. "Yes, I have won but it has indeed been tough in the whole tournament. I'm glad it worked my way," Wangui said.

Sand Nairobi Stima won the overall team performance ahead of hosts Chambers, Jacaranda darts Club and Nakuru Prisons.

In the women's doubles finals, Wangui, who teamed up with Mary Njenga, lost to Sakawa (Seline) and Florence Kipsogut in the round-robin matches finishing runners-up with three points.

The team of Sakawa/Kipsogut won with four points as the duo of Susan Wanja and Jecinta Muthoni came third with two points ahead Pauline Wanja and Daisy Kipyator who came fourth with a point.

In the men's singles, David Gaitho of Nairobi Stima defeated Peter Wachiuri 4-0 to win the title.

In the men's doubles, the team of Samuel Gathura and David Gaitho of Nairobi Stima on ahead of John Marwa and John Kipchumba in the round robin series that saw the duo of Peter Wachiuri and Muriuki come third and Suleiman Siwo and John Mucheru fourth.

Meanwhile, Nakuru County Darts League resumes on June 8 and 9, chairman Peter Kamakia confirmed.
