Wahome, Ndegwa win Parent and Child golf tournament

Father and son duo of Ndegwa Wahome and Peterson Ndegwa scored a nett score of 64 on Sunday to win the Parent and Child Tournament at Nyahururu Country Club course.

They jelled well, banking on teamwork and strategic play to deliver the winning score.

“Our communication on the course helped us jell well by playing strategically while complimenting each other. That is how we secured the top honors’,” Wahome said.

In the subsidiary category, Njoki Mureithi and Teresia Wambui captured the overall title after a nett score of 70.

Daniel Njunge and Samuel Njenga finished second overall with a nett score of 68.

The competition was stiff in the main and subsidiary categories, Dennis Paul and John Chege finished in second place after scoring a 72 nett.

Alvin Gitau and John Njuguna were among the top three finishers on a score of 74 nett.

Adding excitement to the tournament, Benjamin Njunge, along with Father Nicholas Kamau, took home the Longest Drive prize with incredible power and precision.

At the Nakuru Golf Club, where the Junior Golf Foundation, Regional Representative - Central Rift, Nancy Steinman hosted 70 juniorS for the Back-to-School golf tournament was also a great display of skill and competitiveness among the participants.

In the age group, (15-18 years) for boys, Liam Mahinda, 15, emerged the overall winner with a net score of 77 ahead of Victor Chege, 16, who raked in 101 nett and third placed Ian Mathenge with 106 nett.

Pari Maisuria, 16, won the girls event with 101 ahead of Michelle Chelaga 17 who scored 104 while Jecinta Njeri was third with 105 nett.

In the special category Golf for the Disabled (G4D) Soile Mailong, 14, beat the rest with a nett score 129.
