Six arrested for wildlife trafficking in Kilifi

Six suspected wildlife traffickers have been arrested in Kaloleni, Kilifi County.

According to a statement by the DCI, at the time of arrest, the six were in the position of two pieces of elephant tusks estimated at a street value of Sh5 million and four live terrapins.

“Six suspected wildlife traffickers are to be arraigned on Monday following a multi-agency operation comprising officers from DCI HQS, Serious Crimes Unit, rangers from KWS Hqs and Kaloleni DCI officers that saw their arrest and seizure of two pieces of elephant tusks estimated at a street value of Sh5 million and four live terrapins,” read the statement.

Currently, the six are held at Mariakani Police Station and are to be transferred to Nairobi ahead of their arraignment on Monday.
