Two people have been killed and three others injured in a road at Bobaracho on the Kisii–Sotik highway.
The accident , which occurred around 7pm this evening, involved a trailer and a Subaru Forester with three occupants on board.
Kisii County Police Commander Ronald Kirui confirmed the incident, saying the trailer was headed from Kisii to Keroka, while the Subaru was traveling in the opposite direction.
Upon reaching the scene, the Subaru driver reportedly lost control and veered into the path of the trailer.
“The driver of the Subaru failed to keep to his lane and collided head-on with the oncoming trailer,” said Kirui.
“Those who died were in the Subaru and they succumbed to injuries at Ram Hospital and Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, where they had been rushed for treatment.”
The County Police boss urged motorists to drive cautiously, especially during the rainy season, warning that reckless driving endangers both drivers and other road users.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Ram Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy. The wreckage of both vehicles was towed to Kisii Central Police Station.
