The national government has taken over the completion of J.M. Kariuki Hospital, which was stalled at 48% completion due to a lack of funds from Nyandarua County.
President William Ruto, currently on a development tour of the Mt Kenya counties, announced that the hospital will be completed by the end of the year.
An additional Sh800 million is required for its completion.
As part of his commitment to the development of Mt. Kenya, Ruto also announced an allocation of Sh958 million for road construction in Nyandarua County.
He launched a Sh1.6 billion last-mile connectivity program that will benefit over 14,000 households.
The President directed Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi to secure an additional Sh400 million to ensure that another 6,000 families receive electricity connectivity.
Furthermore, plans are underway to establish a public university in Nyandarua County, with student enrollment expected to begin in September of this year.
The university will be managed by the University of Nairobi.
Additionally, Ruto has instructed the Nyandarua County Commissioner to investigate allegations of land grabbing in the area and to present a report within two weeks.
This directive comes after local residents claimed that a portion of the county-owned quarry land has been taken over by private developers.
