Former Sikhendu Member of County Assembly MCA Eric Musumba is dead.
Musumba passed on at Cherangany Nursing Home, where he had been hospitalised since he was involved in a road accident last week and sustained serious injuries.
He was driving along Matunda-Kiminini highway when his car collided with another vehicle, leaving him with multiple injuries.
Family source said the former MCA had undergone a successful surgery following the accident but died due to complications related to high blood pressure.
The deceased was elected on Ford Kenya ticket and served between 2017 and 2022.
Musumba will be remembered for tackling water problems in Sikhendu market and neighbouring areas.
Local leaders led by Kiminini Member of Parliament Maurice Bissau mourned the untimely demise of the former MCA describing him as a dedicated and committed leader who helped to drive the economic agenda of the ward.
"He served the ward with dedication and a spirit of selflessness, and he will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to public service, his strong leadership, and his deep desire to uplift the community," said Bissau.
The legislator urged road users to ensure traffic regulations are followed to reduce accidents.
"We are losing many lives on our roads, and it is critical that motorists stick to traffic rules to avoid road carnage," said the lawmaker.
He urged law enforcement officers to ensure trailers ferrying sugar cane are not allowed on the roads during the night, saying they contributed to most accidents.
