The government has promised to support the welfare of security officers in the country in a renewed commitment to strengthening the country’s security sector.

The Principal Secretary for Internal Security, Raymond Omollo, emphasised that the welfare of officers across the National Youth Service, National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, and other security agencies remains a top priority for the administration.

He spoke on Saturday during a Thanksgiving service held at the National Youth Service (NYS) Headquarters in Ruaraka.

He lauded the NYS for its instrumental role in moulding young people into disciplined and responsible citizens.

“Those who have gone through NYS carry themselves with admirable discipline. We encourage the leadership of NYS to continue their critical work of nurturing the youth who will lead and build this nation,” he said.

Dr. Omollo also underscored the importance of social responsibility, urging parents and guardians to contribute to shaping the next generation.

He urged them to instil respect, discipline, and godly values in children, while cautioning against the growing trend of youth being encouraged to challenge authority and traditional values.

As parents, we are responsible for raising children who are respectful not just to their peers, but also to teachers, elders, and the broader community,” he noted.

He added: “We must ensure our children are brought up in the ways of the Lord so they grow into responsible citizens who contribute positively to society."
