Senior State officials have told the opposition leaders to stop criticising the government over alleged unfulfilled promises.

Speaking yesterday after inspecting Raila Odinga stadium where Madaraka Day will be held in Homa Bay, Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Interior PS Raymond Omollo, Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura, and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma, claimed the government is on track and has completed some projects.

Mvurya said the completion of the stadium is proof that the government's promises are real.

President Ruto came here with ODM leader Raila Odinga in December last year and directed that this stadium be upgraded. As we stand here today, I can confirm that the work has been done and the only thing remaining is the placement of iron sheet on the roof, work which is going on,” said Mvurya.

The CS said the stadium will be handed over to the county government next week.

He said the completion of the stadium will convince the critics that the government fulfills its development promises.

“We are ensuring that this stadium is upgraded to an international facility. This will convince those who say nay that the government’s promises are actualized,” Mvurya said.

Wanga told leaders to stop telling Kenyans to perceive that Ruto promises projects that cannot be fulfilled.

“What we are seeing here is not an Artificial Intelligence. This is a modern stadium that has been constructed. Let us have faith in President Ruto’s promises on development,” Wanga said.

She expressed hope that the project is going to enable Homa Bay residents and other Kenyans to sit under the roof during Madaraka Day celebrations next month.

“This stadium shows that Homa Bay is ready for Madaraka Day. I assure you that it is not going to be a Madaraka Day like any other,” said Wanga.

Mwaura warned against politicizing government projects.

Dr Omollo said the Madaraka Day will open Homa Bay for development.

He said there were many roads and other projects that the government is undertaking in Homa Bay, and some of them will be opened while others will be launched during Madaraka Day.

“This celebration is going to enhance economic transformation for the people of Homa Bay. I tell residents to position themselves and take advantage of the opportunities for economic growth,” Dr Omollo said.

The Madaraka Day celebrations will be presided over by President William Ruto.

During the occasion, Ruto is expected to open several projects in the county, such as Homa Bay Pier, an ultra-modern fish market in Homa Bay Town, among others.

Kaluma expressed hope that the projects will spur economic growth in the area.

“I am impressed by several projects in this area because they are going to transform the lives of our people economically,” said Kaluma.

The leaders told Ruto and Odinga to continue uniting Kenyans.
