Battle for KBF Premier League playoffs slots hots up

Thrilling action is lined up this weekend as the battle for top eight slots in the Kenya Basketball Federation men and women's Premier League title hunt continues at Nyayo Gymnasium, Ulinzi Complex and Uasin Gishu High School, Eldoret.

Defending champions Nairobi City Thunder will have a chance to go on top of the standings for the first time this season if they win their encounters against Strathmore University Blades and Stanbic Shields. 

Thunder, who are having a great season, will be looking to maintain their 100 percent win record even as they prepare to take on Africa’s top basketball clubs in the 2025 Basketball Africa League. They play Stanbic Shields today.

Former men and women's champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) will be in Eldoret to take on Eldonets Platinum and Eldonets. KPA men, who are currently second on the log with nine points from five matches, will be chasing their fifth win of the season. 

Platinum on the other hand will be hoping to bounce back from their loss against holders Thunder.  A victory against the dockers will see Platinum who are third on the table move to second place.

In other matches set for today, former champions Ulinzi Warriors, who have been blowing hot and cold, will face off with Equity Bank Dumas. 

The soldiers are not at their best and have only managed two wins out of five matches. National Bank of Kenya (NBK) Phoenix will play bottom placed United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Tigers. Tomorrow, the bankers will tackle African Nazarene University (ANU) Wolfpacks.

In the women’s title chase, KPA will be looking to extend their winning streak to six matches out of six and cement their place at the peak of the table whereas Eldonets, who are currently ninth, will be hoping to leap into the top eight. 

Tomorrow, Safe Spaces will play Stanbic Aces who were dislodged from the summit by KPA last weekend.
