Champs Equity battle against flawless KPA in league action

Reigning basketball Women’s Premier League champions Equity Bank Hawks will be hoping to return to winning ways when they take on rivals Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) today at Nyayo Gymnasium.

The bankers who suffered two defeats last weekend at the hands of Zetech University Sparks and United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Flames will be out to secure their fourth win of the season.

However, they face an uphill task against the dockers who are in good form and are yet to drop a point.

KPA who are looking to reclaim the title they lost to Hawks last season top the table with 16 points from eight matches.

Tomorrow, KPA will take on red-hot Flames who will also be out to maintain their unbeaten run in the battle of former champions.

Flames who last won the league trophy in 2015 are in brilliant form this season and have won all their five matches.

In another women’s encounter, struggling storms will be chasing their first win of the season against Safe Spaces.

Storms have had a very dull season losing all their six matches and are currently leading from the wrong end of the table.

In the Men’s Premier League title chase, Equity Bank Dumas will take on KPA in hunt for their third win today. The going has been very tough for Dumas who are rebuilding after losing most of their top players to Umoja Basketball Club.

Two men’s matches are lined up tomorrow. African Nazarene University (ANU) Wolfpacks will clash with University of Nairobi (UoN) Terror.

Both sides go into the clash on the back of last weekend wins. Wolfpacks beat Stanbic Shields 72-69 while Terror dismissed former champions Ulinzi Warriors 68-65.

Stanbic Shields will be hoping to bounce back from their loss to ANU students when they take on KPA in the last tie of the weekend. Defending champions Nairobi City Thunder who are the only side to test defeat will not be in action.
