Police in Mwea have detained a man after a huge consignment of donkey meat was found hidden in his vehicle.
Moments after the meat was discovered, angry residents attacked the man before he was rescued by police officers.
According to David Chomba, a resident, he found the vehicle in his compound with a tyre puncture.
"I found a vehicle outside my house and upon inquiring, I was told that it had a puncture. I went to the slaughterhouse, came back, and found fresh blood dripping from it. The driver offered me a bribe, but I refused," he said.
Chomba went on to say that upon inquiring, he was told that the meat was being transported to Kiritiri in Embu Town.
