DCP has unveiled land dealer John Mwaura Kogi as one of its aspirants to contest the Kiambu governor’s seat against incumbent Kimani Wamatangi.
Mwaura, the CEO of Finsco Africa, was unveiled during a function at the party headquarters in Nairobi yesterday.
“Congratulations, Mr Mwaura, on your bold move to join the party with the interests of the people of Kenya at heart. I wish you the very best in your aspiration to be Governor of Kiambu,” Party leader Rigathi Gachagua said.

Mwaura said Kiambu’s allocation of funds does not match its development needs. “The hospitals in Kiambu are very sick, as are many roads in the county. I wish to bring a new approach to leadership,” he said, adding that complaints from patients are overwhelming. “Negligence in Kiambu hospitals is the order of the day, and neonatal deaths continue to haunt us,” he said.
At the same event, Gachagua called for a public inquest into the death of former ODM leader Raila Odinga, questioning the circumstances surrounding his final days and burial. He cited concerns raised by Siaya Senator James Orengo and claimed inconsistencies in the handling of his death.

Deputy party leader Cleophas Malala also questioned the events surrounding Raila’s death, asking whether leaders who travelled to India confirmed key details. He said the circumstances remain unclear and announced plans for a play and book exploring the matter.
Gachagua further criticised ODM leadership, claiming internal divisions and accusing some leaders of weakening the party. He also alleged irregularities in ID issuance, claiming some regions receive faster processing than others.
He urged young people to register as voters and participate in shaping the country’s future, saying they are key to national renewal.
