President William Ruto announced the establishment of a new university in Nyandarua County.
Speaking to residents of Ol Kalou Town, Nyandarua County, on Thursday, the president said that the government had approved the establishment and gazettement of Nyandarua University.
Ruto said he fastened the establishment process following locals' plea to have a university within the county.
“I, together with your leaders, last Friday authorised the establishment of Nyandarua University, and a gazette notice has been released. Nyandarua University will begin registering students in September,” said Ruto.
The journey towards establishing a fully fledged university in Nyandarua County began in 2015 when the county government partnered with the University of Nairobi as a mentor institution.
