Mathare United registered their second win of the 2024-2025 season after edging out FC Talanta 2-0 in a round seven FKF Premier League match played at Dandora Stadium on Saturday.
The Slum Boys headed into the match seeking redemption after inconsistent run in their opening six matches.
In fact, Mathare had lost three matches, draw twice and won only a game, results that needed to change if the recently promoted outfit was to stay put in the top tier league.
Centric Asango gave the Slum Boys the breakthrough in the 49th minute after converting Kevin Kimani’s assist for a 1-0 lead.

The two sides had played out to a barren draw in the opening half but John Kamau’s words at the break worked magic since Mathare came out more aggressive in the final half.
At the hour mark, Ellie Asieche doubled the lead for the 2009 champions who went on to win the match 2-0.
Victory pushed Mathare to mid table with eight points, sharing the sixth position with Muranga SEAL and Bandari.
The defat on the other hand saw Talanta drop to 15th in the standings, just a point above the relegation zone.
