Leaders Kenya Police have handed defending champions Gor Mahia the advantage to overtake them in the race to win the 2024-2025 FKF Premier League title after dropping three vital points in the midweek matches played today.
Police going down 2-1 to Kakamega Homeboyz at Mumias Sports Complex clearly hands the baton to Gor Mahia, who will play bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars on Thursday at Dandora.
For the Law Enforcers, the painful defeat leaves them top with 58 points, three points ahead of Tusker with 55 points. Gor who have a game in hand have 53 points, and they will go top if they beat City Stars today and AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby that was postponed last week.
Moses Shumah made Police visit in Kakamega tough from the start after netting in the eighth minute to give Homeboyz an early 1-0 lead.
Rising Harambee Stars forward Mohammed Bajaber responded for the visitors in the 14th minute to tie the scores at 1-1, the only goals to be scored in the opening half.

Glen Otunga Masava would pick up where Shumah left two minutes into the final half, scoring the winner to send Homeboyz fifth in the standings with 51 points.
Action resumes today with Gor facing relegation-threatened City Stars and Kariobangi Sharks facing KCB at Dandora, which will host the double header.
