Rights activist Boniface Mwangi allegedly abducted

Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has reportedly been abducted from his Ukambani home early Sunday morning by unidentified individuals.

Six people allegedly arrived at Mwangi's residence, Courage Base, around 7:15 a.m., forcibly taking him to an unknown location, according to his wife, Njeri.

“This morning, at around 7:15, six uninformed people went to Courage Base and forcefully took my husband @bonifacemwangi from the house. I have no idea who, why or where they have taken him,” said Njeri on X.

Fellow activist and Vocal Africa CEO Hussein Khalid also shared concerns, tweeting, “Just received reliable information that @bonifacemwangi has been abducted by unknown persons and taken to an unknown destination. He was picked from his family home in Ukambani around 7 a.m.”

The alleged abduction comes a day after Mwangi launched an online campaign encouraging Kenyans to “occupy” the Standard Chartered Marathon held in Nairobi on Sunday, October 27.

Mwangi called on supporters to attend the event dressed in attire opposing the Kenya Kwanza government.
