Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Veterans for Peace Nelson Muakara Sechere faces allegations of stealing goods worth Sh16 million.
Sechere appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego and denied the charges against him.
The charges state that on various dates between July 1 and September 20, 2024, at the organisation's offices in Nyayo House, Sechere conspired with others not present in court to defraud Kipkoech Mutai of goods valued at Sh16,989,500.
The goods included sugar, rice and cooking oil.

"You falsely pretended that you were in a position to pay for the goods upon delivery, a fact you knew to be false. You also obtained the goods from him," the charge read.
Sechere also faces a second count stating that on different dates between December 6 and December 11, 2023, he, together with others not in court, obtained goods worth Sh4,026,700 from Caroline Mwoni Amusala.
The goods included rice and jerrycans of cooking oil.
"You pretended that there was a genuine agreement between her and Kenya Veterans for Peace for the supply and delivery of the goods, a fact you knew to be false," the charge sheet stated.
Sechere denied all accusations and requested lenient bond terms, asserting he was not a flight risk. He was granted a bond of Sh2 million with one surety or a cash bail of Sh1 million.
The case is set for mention on November 4.
