Nairobi County Chief Environment Officer Geoffrey Mosiria, has singled out Pipeline estate as one of the city’s worst areas for noise pollution, citing the proliferation of strip clubs in residential areas and loud church services.
Mosiria, speaking on NTV, warned that such establishments in residential areas could have a negative impact on children.
‘’You find that someone has decided to open a strip club in a residential area on the first floor, while families live on the second and third.”
“Imagine your child walking down the stairs and seeing naked women…and they also rent some rooms upstairs. Kids are seeing things they are not supposed to see,’’ he said.

Defending his strict enforcement of noise regulations within the capital, which has drawn criticism for alleged heavy-handedness, Mosiria also took aim at churches in the area.
“The problem in Pipeline area is that churches seem to believe their God allows them to make noise for everyone. We get a lot of abuse in churches,” he added.
The County officer said that he approaches establishments diplomatically before taking action.
‘’I am always soft to them at all these establishments, I go and introduce myself to the managers before enforcing the regulations,” he said.
The environment officer has been at the forefront of Governor Johnson Sakaja's administration, spearheading crackdowns on noise pollution and conducting impromptu inspections to ensure compliance with county environmental laws.
During the interview, Mosiria also accused Embakasi East MP Babu Owino of rigging the Student Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) election when they were both students at the University of Nairobi.
‘’Babu believed that I could never defeat him in anything. You see, he is known to blackmail the administration and was rigged in because he was an administration puppet that beef still there, ’’he claimed.
