A house help who stole more than Sh2 million from her employer in Nairobi has been traced and arrested, four days after going into hiding.
Fleviar Muhonja Anaya is said to have grabbed Sh2.2 million that had been kept in her employer’s bedroom in Kilimani estate.
Muhonja, 29, who was trailed by detectives to Malava, Kakamega County, where she was hiding at her younger sister’s house, led the officers to places where some of the money had been taken.
She first took the officers to Kapsoi in Vihiga County where the investigators found Sh700,000 from her grandmother’s house.
The operation then continued to her uncle’s place home in Kipkaren, Uasin Gishu County, where detectives recovered three chain links suspected to have been bought using the stolen cash.

Muhonja further led detectives to Nairobi’s South B, Fuata Nyayo area, where an additional Sh800,000 was recovered from her rented house.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect took the money on March 16, 2025, after the employer had left the house.
A security guard who became suspicious stopped Muhonja at the gate, but she had laid that she was taking the large carrier bags she was carrying to her employer.
The guard nevertheless called the employer, reporting the matter. The employer returned home only to find Muhonja was not at home and the money was missing. Meanwhile, Muhonja had switched off her phone.
DCI Nairobi Regional Headquarters commenced investigations leading to Muhonja’s arrest, and has been detained at Capitol Hill Police Station.
Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Officer (RCIO) Benson Kasyoki said the suspect will be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
