The government has delivered relief supplies to residents of Kiamaiko and Mabatini in Mathare Constituency following last week’s twin infernos.

Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, speaking in Kiamaiko, assured victims of continued government support.

“No Kenyan should be left to suffer alone in the face of tragedy. We are here to walk with you until you get back on your feet,” the CS said.

The fires destroyed at least 110 homes in Kiamaiko and one hundred and one others (101) in Mabatini, affecting more than 200 families and killing one person.

Ruku pledged to work with other agencies to sustain assistance and strengthen disaster preparedness through the State Department for Special Programmes.

He further directed Huduma Centre staff in Eastleigh to set up a temporary desk at the Deputy County Commissioner’s office to help victims replace identification documents.

The relief package included 200 mattresses, 400 blankets, 200 bags of rice, 100 bags of beans, 20 cartons of soap, and five bales of sanitary pads.
