Government orders probe into botched plastic surgery at Body by Design

The Ministry of Health has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the botched plastic surgery procedure of the late Lucy Wambui Ng'ang'a, performed by Body by Design clinic at Omnicare Medical Limited.
In a press statement, Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni directed the Kenya Health Professional Oversight Authority (KHPOA) to submit its report within 30 days.
"Health regulatory agencies are directed to conduct a thorough assessment of the facility and staff involved in this case to prevent further incidents of this nature," Muthoni stated.
Additionally, agencies such as the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dental Council (KMPDC) have been tasked with inspecting similar facilities nationwide to ensure compliance with health standards and patient safety.
Wambui died last Thursday after undergoing a procedure at Body by Design and was laid to rest at her home in Redhill, Kiambu.

The clinic has since been shut down following investigations that revealed non-compliance with medical regulations under Sections 4 and 15 of the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act (Cap 253).
