The Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) has extended its congratulations to Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, following his recent election as the 47th President of the United States.
In a press statement, Francis Atwoli, the Secretary-General of COTU, expressed appreciation, highlighting that Trump's victory was met with excitement among Kenyan workers.
"The news of the election of President Donald Trump was received warmly and with great enthusiasm by Kenyan workers, especially given the strong relationship between Kenya and the United States," the statement read.

COTU emphasized the significance of the close ties between Kenya and the United States, expressing hope that these connections would continue to strengthen under Trump's leadership.
The statement also underscored the global need for leaders who are both strong and God-fearing.
According to COTU, Trump's election marks the beginning of an era of stability and what they refer to as "action-oriented leadership" on the global stage.
Atwoli expressed hope that Trump would restore sanity, particularly in light of what COTU views as a growing trend of global leaders implementing policies they consider ungodly.
In alignment with Kenya's own values, COTU voiced its support for Trump's leadership, reaffirming the commitment of Kenyan workers to stand by him.
Atwoli further encouraged President-elect Trump to collaborate closely with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) to advocate for the welfare and interests of American workers, acknowledging the pivotal role that union members played in his election.
"We also hope and trust that President Trump will recognize the importance of working with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) to enhance the welfare and interests of American workers, whose votes contributed to his victory," said Atwoli.
